Learning Points:

After interviewing with Vanessa, I do learn new knowledge from her. The upcoming context is the tips and the points which I think is useful. Vanessa said that text could definitely convey the message better. For example, in interviews or talk show, the subtitle is a must. In comedy videos, supers can help to enhance the comedy effect. Event/travelogue videography it’s excellent to add location name or event segment. So in a different kind of video, the text carries different purposes.

Besides, in videography, different lens and cameras do affect the quality outcome. This is because the different model has different specs, some camera is able to shoot 4k up to 120fps, RAW picture profile(Flat profile), and some can only shoot up to 720p only. The different lens also has a different kind of distortion, sharpness, bokeh, colour, and so on.

The reason that can sustain her passion in videography is the people she met and the projects she is doing. Having a self-creative side project also helps to keep her passion alive.

Lastly, she also has some advice for the fresh graduates who want to step into the videography industry. She said that portfolio is the key. Do gigs, even for free to build your portfolio. And if you want to be fulltimer, get a job before you graduate. A lot of company in this industry would prefer to hire you as an intern first at least for a few months to test your skills and strengths. She mentioned that to get a job before graduation, which I think is not easy. In the same time, that is the point that makes me admire her. This is because college life is quite busy, but she is still able to work as an intern before she graduates.
